Law professor Dr. Sharon Fairley joins Frimpong to discuss civilian oversight. Dr. Fairley teaches at the University of Chicago Law School and has spent eight year as a federal prosecutor with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois. In December 2015, following the shooting death of Laquan McDonald, Dr. Fairley serve as the Chief Administrator of the Independent Police Review Authority, the agency responsible for police misconduct investigations. Dr. Fairley also help establish Chicago’s new Civilian Office of Police Accountability.
